Exploring the Potential of Using TikTok as a Wellness Tool

In late December 2020, I vividly remember the moment when I finally decided to sign up for TikTok, intrigued by the countless TikToks my friends had been sharing with me. As a newcomer to the platform, I was initially clueless about its dynamics and functionalities, but I soon found myself captivated by the endless scrolling experience that consumed my first day on the app.


It wasn't until a year later that I stumbled upon my niche not once, but twice. Initially, my TikTok journey revolved around singing karaoke to Blue October hits on Spotify while enjoying some drinks and cannabis on the side, a routine that brought me joy and relaxation. However, my path took a new direction when I discovered tarot and oracle decks content on TikTok, tapping into a fascination that had always lingered within me.


Fast forward to early January 2024, I took a quiet yet significant step by introducing a Canva pre-website geared towards providing readings, setting the stage for a promising opportunity that lay ahead, even though I wasn't fully aware of it at that moment.


Reflecting on my academic achievements, having obtained diplomas in social service work, mental wellness, and addiction worker in 2017 and 2023, I realized that my ultimate aspiration was to leverage these skills by establishing an online platform in the future.


With each passing year, I've noticed a shift in societal norms, where the emphasis on wellness has transformed into a widespread social expectation, seamlessly integrating into our daily routines.


Throughout my evolution on TikTok, I experimented with various usernames to mirror the different phases of my identity. Eventually settling on pswellness24, I delved into creating wellness-focused content, ranging from walking routines and achieving step goals to sharing quick and nutritious recipes for breakfasts and homemade iced coffee.


Presently, my TikTok feed is filled with a diverse array of videos spanning wellness tips, cat-related content, and cooking inspiration. As I immerse myself in these videos, I eagerly anticipate exploring new and exciting content beyond my current interests.
