The most recent time I wrote was on September 1, 2024. It was a memorable day filled with fun, as I spent it with my best friend Emily celebrating our birthdays together. We decided to dine at Edward Bistro, a restaurant known for its authentic Asian cuisine, which was offering an Asian Buffet that Sunday. We indulged like royalty, savoring our first buffet experience with incredibly delicious and mouth-watering food.
After our meal, we returned to my house to unwrap gifts and spend time with the Cats, Ellis, Grace, and Stanley. Emily's presents followed a theme, with me giving her the "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series by Sarah J. Maas. I also bought a copy for myself so we could enjoy the experience together. The captivating cover caught my eye when I picked it out for her. Additionally, she received a Boo-Jee sweatshirt featuring a ghost holding a Ghostbucks drink, along with sunglasses and a cellphone. Her gift bag also included Corona beer, Lay's hot and spicy chili chips, mini KitKats, peach Spritzers gummies, and the second book in the series.
Have you heard of hyperfocus? That's what my therapist described me as. After returning home, I looked up its definition and some examples. Hyperfocus is a term used to describe an intense form of concentration or focus on a particular task or subject. It often involves getting completely absorbed in an activity to the point where everything else fades into the background. People who experience hyperfocus may find it difficult to switch tasks or shift their attention away from what they are focused on.
As I write this, I can't help but reflect on how hyperfocus has impacted my life. While it can be a valuable skill in certain situations, such as when working on a project that requires deep concentration, it can also be a double-edged sword. For me, hyperfocus has led to moments of productivity and creativity, but it has also caused me to lose track of time and neglect other important aspects of my life.
Learning more about hyperfocus has helped me better understand myself and how I operate. It has prompted me to explore strategies for managing my focus and finding a balance between intense concentration and broader awareness. By recognizing the signs of hyperfocus and learning to harness its power effectively, I hope to make the most of this unique aspect of my cognitive functioning.
Starting this blog, I was in a manic and hyperfocused state after buying a new iMac to begin my project. Initially, I worked diligently without committing to any subscriptions or domain names. Although my plan was to write weekly, it quickly escalated to daily posts. It's fascinating how my mind operates, but it suits me well. Taking a short break was beneficial, and I can't pinpoint what made me pause from blogging - perhaps the browser tab wasn't open.
Until next time,
